A 30% reduction in CMAI score was observed in 60% of the active treatment group and 14% of the control group. In his article, Holmes & Ballard2 draw attention to the number of methodological issues that need to be considered in the design of future studies, the potential role of aromatherapy in the clinical treatment of behavioral and psychiatric symptoms in people with dementia.
